Video Montage Formative

Here is the link that leads to the video. It is a montage of footage of the first lunar landing. The pieces are slightly moved and jumbled for a nice visual effect, but close enough to their original positions to allow the mind to see what is going on.

Polaroid Summative 2

This is the second part of my Polaroid Summative. In this piece, the photos are scattered on a workbench. The scattering of the pictures allows the viewer to see a full piece in the form of broken up smaller pieces, which is interesting for the eye.

David Hockney Summative Part 1

This is My first part of my summative. It is a picture of me arranged in a David Hockney style, which consists of a bunch of Polaroid pictures all lined up together. Different zooms of photos give it it's originality.

Photo Manipulation Collage: Destruction of Forests

This is my final collage for my Photo Manipulation. The theme is destruction of our forests. I chose this theme because over logging in the forestry industry and forest fires are a big problem today. At one side you can see the forest with the moon and northern lights. Then as the image progresses, the fires start to appear and the smokestacks at the left show the destruction of our forests for industry.

1. The theme I chose to explore in this collage is the destruction of our forests. I chose this theme because this is a big issue that the world is facing today. Animals and other species are being killed due to loss of habitat and pollution from this industry is affecting the land and water around the forests that are destroyed.

2. Two elements of design that I put to use in my collage would be Color and Space. Two principles of design that I used were Balance and Contrast. As you can see, I used color very well in my collage. I used cooler colors like greens and blues on the left side which represents the love and beauty of the forest and the parts that still remain. Then as you move on to the right side, a transition occurs into red and oranges of the flames and industry which symbolizes the destruction. This part jumps out a bit more so it emphasizes the seriousness of the situation well. I used space well in the careful placing of empty space and the objects. The space I left in the middle allows the photo to transition between the two contrasting sides better. That brings me to my use of contrast. as you can see I contrasted the difference between the left and the right of the photo by giving them opposite meanings and colors. I played with balance in the photo by putting the opposites at either end of the photo to keep the colors balanced.

Fire Tutorial

The photo on the left is the original tutorial that I followed. It is a fire tutorial that makes someone look as though they are made of fire. I used this tutorial on a picture of Jimi Hendrix. My finished version is on the right.

Photo Editing: Facial Feature Matching

The face on the right is the original. What I did was I used pictures from the internet and combined facial features from those photos into this photo. This made the different looking man on the left.

Dead Last: Final Cut Project

http://www.vimeo.com/3598815

The above link will send you to my video.

This video is about a race that the three of us have to get to Tim Horton's. We all go up to Peter's farm one day to ski. After a day of skiing, we decide we are going to go to Tim Horton's to get something to eat, and the last one there has to pay. Peter and I go cross country while Graham finds another means of transportation. We all get there in the end but some things go wrong...

I think that we did pretty well in the end, I am fairly happy with my editing job. Two things that I would like to change for next time would be getting more "B roll" film so that we can add more angles for better effects. I also would like to come up with a more entertaining idea because I feel that I could think of better ideas than this one.
